THE NEW MASS TRANSLATION POSTURE

With the introduction of the new missal the Bishops of Scotland are introducing changes to posture during Mass in all diocese whilst still retaining the established Scottish custom of kneeling during Mass. The first change is when the priest says “..Pray brethren, that my sacrifice and yours….” In the past we knelt at this point. From now on ; we stand and remain standing until the end of the Holy Holy when we then kneel for the Eucharistic prayer as we do at present. The practise of standing for the Lords prayer remains unchanged and we remain standing until AFTER the singing of the Lamb of God when we resume our current posture of kneeling in preparation for reception of Communion.

Following reception of Communion we are free to adopt a sitting , kneeling or standing position for our personal prayers of thanksgiving.
