PARISH FINANCE

As you know the parish has an obligation to support the Archdiocese and the wider church throughout Scotland through our support of the Bishops conference (the term used for all the Scottish Bishops acting together).

This year our support levy for the Bishops conference has been set at £14,022 and I am pleased to be able to tell you that as a result of your generosity I have been able to pay this.

In addition there are other costs that the parish is responsible for to the Archdiocese, notably the support of sick and retired priests, which has been set at £29,132 for this financial year and £6,848 towards the cost of seminarians. It is a remarkable testament to the parish that I am able to tell you that all these charges have been paid as we reach the halfway point in the financial year.

There are still a few other costs to be met principally The Religious Education department, The Pastoral Office, The Youth Ministry, The administration of Gift Aid, The Arts project, University Chaplaincies, Child and vulnerable adult protection, Subsidies to SPRED, Marriage Care and St. Margaret’s Family Care. In total our share of these, and some administration expenses, will be £57,000. We will spread these costs over the remaining months between now and March.

I now fully realise what Monsignor meant by “Basking in the reflected glory of your munificence” Thank you for such support.
