EVENING MASSES IN NOVEMBER

Mass will be celebrated each weekday eveing (Monday to Friday) during November for all our Holy Souls and those named on the November lists. You can hand your list in at any time up until the end of November.

ASSISTED PARISHES COLLECTIONS

The next of these collections will be taken up next weekend (13th November 2011) for those parishes in the Archdiocese that would be unable to continue financially without this vital support.

NEW MASS TRANSLATION...........The Communion Rite.

This begins with the Lords Prayer and continues through to the Prayer after Communion. The Lords Prayer has achieved a level of holiness that can not be replaced. English speakers have used this translation for many years, so no changes have been made. Between the Lords Prayer and the peoples acclamation the priest will now pray that we be 'safe' from all distress.

The prayer concerns the circumstances that cause distress, not the inferior feeling of anxiety. Instead of saying "we wait in joyful hope of the coming of our savoir Jesus Christ" the priest will say, "we await the blessed hope and the coming of our saviour Jesus Christ". His words echo the letter of St Paul to Titus 2:13 which affirms the Christ has come and we await the blessed hope of his return. Christ is our hope. We await his coming....even when we do not feel joyful.

REMEMBERANCE MASS

Many thanks to all who were able to attend our Rememberance Mass last Wednesday. Sincere thanks to everyone who helped organise this parish celebration and to those parishioners who provided the purvey in the hall after the Mass.
